Employees Who Get It

We here at Springborn have a saying - we're looking for applicants, employees, who "get it" when it comes to being an outstanding temporary candidate. I've realized lately that no everyone instinctively knows exactly what that means.

Candidates who "get it" know that there are a lot of staffing agencies out there and that if a client has called Springborn and wants to use our services, it's because we say we only send the best - and we mean it. So if we send you out on a temp job, even if it was just stuffing envelopes, we want you to stuff those envelopes the right way, efficiently, correctly and when you're done, finding your supervisor and saying, "This is done! What can I do to help you now?" The goal is to have that supervisor call me at the end of the day and say, "Thank goodness I called Springborn. You sent me a terrific person who not only go the job done correctly and quickly, but then asked how else thy can help us." I can tell you that *this* is the sort of person that I get phone calls about from that client a day, a week, a month, or even a YEAR later asking me if that person is still available because they made such a positive impression. This is the sort of employee that turns a one-day temp job into a direct-hire position because that person has shown the client that they are an asset, no matter what they're doing. This means that the client will call Springborn again and this means that I will remember you as the employee who helped keep Springborn's name at the top of the list of staffing firms in Maine.

As another entry on our company blog pointed out, 75% of people who do temp employment wind up getting a full-time job offer out of it. Having the right attitude going into the assignment is the key to this - "getting it." Employees who "get it" do all the little things that make you a terrific employee, right from the start even on a temporary assignment: He is on time, the first day and every day. She is polite, friendly, and positive. He is as helpful as possible. She works all of the hours that her assigned company wants her to work. He understands that the outstanding impression he makes with that client and with me as his employer, pays dividends down the road. It means new assignments and consideration for new positions that might open up a day, a week, a month, or a year down the road both with Springborn and the client company.

It happens every day here at Springborn - we have "rock star" employees who turn a one-day or one-week assignment into a long-term placement or direct hire job. Companies are starting to realized that they need extra help as we come out of this recession. Be someone that Springborn can rely upon to "get it," represent us and yourself to the fullest. People who get it, get hired.
